The social unrest roiling Quebec is colour-coded red. One cannot miss the hundreds of thousands of people with cloth of the colour pinned to their coats and satchels; the stickers pasted on street poles and storefront mannequins; and the sheets fluttering from balconies and windows. The red squares – punning visually on a French expression to be squarely in the red, or in debt – are a gesture of solidarity with university and college students on a massive general strike against government tuition fee hikes.

Administrators move to expel campus organizers
From:
United Students Against Sweatshops & Campus Anti-War Network
What's happening:
UPDATE: Thanks to public pressure and on-campus organizing, the charges have been dropped against the Wisconsin students. The Hampton University students were sentenced to 20 hours community service.
What you can do:
Administrators at the UW-Madison and at Hampton University are pursuing disciplinary charges against students at these two historically active campuses. At UW-Madison, the targets are members of Stop the War!; at Hampton, the targeted students were participants in a campus anti-war walkout. Write to administrators at both campuses and demand that they end their intimidation of campus organizers.
